ABOUT SHOTOKAN KARATE
Ohio Valley Karate is an active, participating member of the International Shotokan Karate Federation. This non-profit organization based in Philadelphia, PA, was founded by Master Teruyuki Okazaki (10th degree black belt) in 1961.
Shotokan karate is a traditional Japanese martial art characterized by powerful kicking and punching. Practicioners will learn practical self-defense, discipline, and important guiding principles known as the Dojo Kun. These principles should not only be the basis for karate training, but pervasive throughout one's daily life.
